We stayed in Monterosso with Rick Steve's 17 days in Italy tour. I cannot remember the name of the hotel, (I have thename at home, but I am not at my place as I write this) but it is mentioned in his Italy book. Most of his suggestions are always good. They own two places, we had the one closest to the water, tiny bathroom, but it had a hairdryer, as all of the places did.
Looked right across at the water, lovely town.
Lots of restaurants, and places to walk to nearby. You can take the train or boat to the other stops and walk from town to town. Delightful!

Wendy,

I stayed in Riomaggiore last Fall and really enjoyed my visit! I used www.5terre-marmar.com/home.asp for lodgings, and certainly recommend them. Riomaggiore is the smallest of the five villages, but they have lodgings well organized.

If you want something a bit more "upscale", you could consider www.torrettas.com in Manarola (the second village from the south). It's also fairly close to the "official" Cinque Terre Hostel (Ostello 5-Terre) (not sure if you were considering that type of accomodations?). There's also a small Hotel, Ca D-Andrean in the same general area (don't have the web address at hand).

Vernazza has a good selection of accomodations, but it's more popular with tour groups (won't mention any names!), so might be a bit more difficult to find a vacancy.

Monterosso al Mare (the most northerly village) is the largest of the towns and the most touristy, so there are of course a greater selection of lodgings to choose from.

Happy travels!

Wendy,

We stayed 2 nights in Riomaggiore at Edi's Apartments. Cinque Terre is absolutely beautiful. We were happy with our apt. Lots of steps up & down to get to the apt. But the view from the apt. was worth it! We read about it in Italy 2007.
