I have a flight arriving at Fiumicino at 7:15 a.m. and then a reservation on the 1:53 Frecciarossa from FCO to Florence. I’d love some suggestions for a good place to hang out for a couple of hours. Is there a Frecciarossa lounge? Or perhaps an airline lounge I could pay a one time use fee? There is an ITA lounge but I’m arriving not departing. Thanks!
It looks like there is a HelloSky arrivals lounge located outside security.
I don't know what the conditions of your train ticket are, but this seems to be
one of those times where, if you could hit the train early, it might be worth
changing the ticket even if you have to pay a little more. There are a multitude
of trains with a connection in Rome, which is worth considering if you can get
to Florence 3 or 4 hours sooner. I would research the options but not change
anything until you arrive in Fiumicino.
This looks like exactly what I need. I’ll probably roam around a bit and then settle in. I’d take an earlier Leonardo Express but the 1:53 is the direct one to SMN in Florence. I already have a reserved seat in Business and am meeting family coming from Roma Termini on that train. Thanks so much!
There are dining areas landside on the mezzanine level above the departure check-in desks in both terminals 1 & 3. At each location there was a restaurant offering full meals as well as an informal bar/grille - there was a branch of Eataly, which may no longer be there.
There is restricted seating for the restaurant patrons, but also typical waiting area seating.
At that hour you could also wander over to the Airport Hilton for their breakfast buffet.
I know Eataly well from NY, Chicago, and LA. I remember once in Florence too. Excellent idea. Thanks.
