My wife and I plan to be in Sicily in late September/ October ( barring Covid issues) and are seeking a longer term (4-5 week) furnished apartment in or near to either Palermo, Catania or Syracuse. Other than VRBO are there any local agencies that specialize in tourist rentals. Our ultimate goal is to find a suitable suburban area with the intention of ultimately buying a retirement property. We are looking for somewhere "local" as opposed to the "tourist condo complexes" that seem so prevelent in many Mediterranean settings.

We found a wonderful water view apartment on Ortigia Is through Air BnB but it actually was offered by a local agency so agents were readily available if we had questions. or problems . wonderful italy dot eu period
We would happily return there again as our one week was not long enough!

I spent a most marvelous week at this Ortigia apartment available through casesicilia.com (or from VRBO). It is right at the corner of the most beautiful piazza in Sicily, and I think, in all of Italy. You enter on the ground level of the piazza but the apartment actually overlooks the marina (sunset side) from a nice height with a small but useful balcony. Without any reservations, I would stay there again and again. I looked forward to spending time in the apartment! It was really part of my Ortigia experience.
