long term rental in Florence

Any ideas on long term rental programs for Florence? I am English speaking and considering a one year rental.
Does anyone know a good English speaking agency to use?

Roberto should be along shortly as the resident Florence expert. In the meantime you need to get your paperwork in order. You will need the long stay visa before being able to sign the a year lease. What is your planned date to start?

Getting the visa can be time consuming. And you can get into a Catch 22 where they want your Florence address and you cannot get a Florence address until you have the visa.

Thank you…..I'm hoping to get some positive input regarding this. Anyone who has done this I'm happy to read any and all posts.

First time to get a Visa for extended stay in Italy with a work permit ... 15 months of paperwork, visits to the Questura, Immigration, legal offices, Consulate, translating your US paperwork (like marriage licenses), etc..

Annual Renewal (twice) took 5+ months.

Living there on our own, no US gov't assistance or embassy support for the jobs we had, no EU passports, etc. we finally hired a local Italian lawyer group to renew our annual visas... and paid them €€€!

But it was worth it and if you're ever been to an Immigration Center in Italy, you know what I mean! Our lawyer group started on our "new" visas about 6 months before our current visas expired. So when you got your visa, it wasn't too long before you started thinking about getting your next one. (But we were working and had annual contracts, which made our process far more difficult than just an extended stay).

When we relocated to Denmark... we had a work visa with work permit in .... less than 3 hours. And they apologized to us for it taking so long... we just smiled!

Currently, I am already "approved" for a visa to Paris - took about a month.
So start early and plan on lots of paperwork.

It's been a life long dream to live in Italy for 6 months. NOT working. Is getting a non-working visa any easier?!

Yes, our situation was quite challenging... and I hope... "not the norm."
But do contact the Italian Consulate closest to you - from Atlanta, it's Miami... and ask plenty of questions!

I would not be working. I could do 6 months- it sound like this would be easier. This would not be for work.
