Am toying with going back to Italy next year and doing the smaller towns as well as revisiting some of our favorites(Bologna, verona, Orvietto). Tempted to rent a car this time instead of trains. Looking to spend 30-40 days. So far I've seen auto rentals for about 75 euros a day, which is kinda pricey. Any reputable places to rent for that period of time?
We just reserved a lease-back Peugeot 208 for 35 days at $1227. It's a brand new car with zero deductible insurance. We are picking it up at Nice airport, if you pick-up and return in Italy (Milan or Rome) it's about $400. more. Nice to Firenze is just over a 4 hours drive. We've done it 4 times now, and it's great. While, you can probably match the price for a 30 day rental, not having to worry about rental company antics is worth a lot!
75 euros/day sounds high, but maybe that's with more insurance than I bought. www.autoeurope.com has very competitive rates for regular rentals and they also offer the French-run lease-buyback option on a separate tab.
ralph.ambrioso , I sent a PM about where I found the best price.
