We are flying from London( Gatwick) to Naples and need to travel by train or bus to Sorrento. Which would you recommend?
We will be returning to Naples and take a train to Rome I cannot seem to find any direct trains from Sorrentp
You can take the bus direct from the airport to the train station in Sorrento. There, you can either walk or take a cab to your hotel-if a cab, be prepared to pay 20-25 euros for the same trip you and significant other paid 20 Euros total for the bus!
The bus to which Jerry refers is the Curreri bus. It leaves the airport at 09:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:30, 16:30, 18:00, and 19:30. The ride takes 1hr15min and the fare is €10.00.
You also can take an airport shuttle bus to the Napoli Centrale train station. Go to the the lower level of the station and take a Circumvesuviana commuter train to Sorrento. Trains run every 30 minutes and the ride takes 1hr6min. I think the fare is €3.00.
Thank you both for the great info!
