Logistic help 8 nts- Cinqueterre+Rome+Venice

Hi! You all seem so kind and willing to help!! Thank you in advance :-)

We booked a flight to Rome in July (Friday) arriving Saturday morning at 7am. We have 8 nights before we fly out of Venice the following Sunday. We are active people so I wanted to hit one other place between Rome and Venice and was thinking Cinqueterre for hiking.

Logistically what would that look like in terms of travel/nights in each place?

Off hand, I'd say 3 nights in Rome, 2 nights Cinque Terre, 3 nights in Venice.

If you arrive Sat am and leave the next Sat, then it's only 7 nights. IMO, that's really not enough time for 3 places. 4 nights in Rome and 3 in Venice would allow you to see quite a bit in those 2 spots, although you still wouldn't come close to seeing everything. Bear in mind that your arrival day will be a jet lagged blur unless you're one of the lucky few who can sleep well on the flight over.

If you MUST visit CT ( which in July is likely to be overrun by cruisers during the day, then do something like this:

Sat, Sun, Mon nights: Rome

Tues, Wed nights: CT

Thurs, Fri nights : Venice.

However, realize that due to the travel time required, you will lose 1/2 day each time you move; so you'll end up with only 1 1/2 days each in CT and Venice.

Arriving Sat. AM and leaving the following Sat. give you 7 nights ( Sa -Su-Mo-Tu We- Th-Fr )

Pick two places or add more days, or your entire trip will be active--as in/out of hotels and train stations

Sorry, we leave Sunday.

Would any other costal town be easier to fit in the middle of the trip instead of CT?

Agree with Joe. Stick with Rome and Venice. Understand that when changing hotels you will be spending a couple of hours on top of the train trip. So Rome to CT 6.5 hours; to Venice 8 hours
