Lodgning in Venice other than Pensione Guerrato

Can anyone recommend a place to stay in Venice other than the Pensione Guerrato(I checked its booked). I am looking for something somewhat close to the train station and around E140/night

Not a big fan of the area around the station.

We've stayed 3 times at Hotel Locanda Fiorita, or the other hotel by the same owner.

Near the Academia bridge, it's very central--easy to walk anywhere in the city.

very happy with them, and we'll stay with them next time.

I stayed at Al Ponte Mocenigo a couple years ago (also in Rick's book) and really liked it. Reviews at tripadvisor good also. It is across the canal and 3 vaparetto stops from train station.

If you need to stay near the train station, you can't do worse than the Hotel Santa Lucia. It's clean, cheap, basic but well-run (family-owned). If you can avoid staying near the station, do!

My husband and I stayed at Corte Campana (www.cortecampana.com) or 389 27 26 500. It is in the perfect location right near San Marco Square. I know it's not near the train station for you but there isn't a lot in that area of Venice to see. San Marco Square is in the center and is magical at night time with the dueling orchestra's and dancing under the stars.

Riccardo the host is the friendliest host and will prefer a breakfast for you in the morning. He also has complimentary internet which is nice. We paid 125Eur a night last year and it’s well worth it especially for the location. It’s clean. I would recommend asking for the room with the bathroom connected. There is 1 room (which we stayed in) where you had to go out in the hall to access the bathroom. It wasn’t terrible but would have been more convenient if we were in one of the other rooms. Check it out. Have a great trip!

Check out the Al Teatro B&B. Again, not close to the train station (ugh!) but wonderfully located, spacious rooms overlooking the back canals (one with a balcony), and a friendly, English-speaking hostess (Eleanora) who serves an excellent breakfast (and a wicked cappucino!)
