Lodgings in Orvieto, Lake Como, Siena, and Florence

My husband and I recently returned from three weeks in Italy. Numerous trips to Europe over the past 20 years (thank you Rick Steves!), but first time in Italy. We want to recommend a few lodgings that were exceptional. First, in beautiful Orvieto, we stayed in Casa Selita B&B. It is in a perfectly picturesque setting at the base of the hill leading up to town. The room was lovely and comfortable with artistic and thoughtful touches, the breakfasts were delicious with homemade jam and olive oil, and the peace and serenity of the place itself made it a welcome retreat. Selita and Ennio are wonderful hosts. We wish we could have stayed longer than three nights. Next, in Florence we stayed at Panella's Residence, a former convent and large family home. It is on a quiet street not far from the action. Again, a very beautiful room, with a huge tiled bathroom, delicious breakfasts in what was once the stable, and excellent hosts. Ask Panella for a dinner recommendation to a charming local restaurant, Gigi's. In Siena, we stayed in Residenza Cicogna, which was also lovely and quiet, with a great breakfast room. Finally, in Lake Como we spent two nights at Albergo Beretta, which was simple and clean, but very nice, and run by the very charming Francisco. The restaurant there is very good too.
