Lodging recommendations for Palermo & Siracusa

I live in Northern Italy and am planning a trip to Sicily in April for my birthday for a week to 10 days. I'm thinking spending 5 days in Palermo, with day trips, then 3 in Siracusa, and two in Catania, as I'll be flying home from there. I'm traveling solo, and looking for safe and inexpensive lodging. Any tips on visiting the area and recommendations for lodging would be welcome and appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Hi Theresa,
We will be returning to Sicily in the fall. Here are the accommodations that we have booked:
Palermo: B&B delle Vittorie.

Siracusa (Ortigia) La Via Della Giudecca. Alternative: Hotel Domus Mariae

Catania: B&B Palazzo Bruca

Ortigia is our favorite area. We will stay 5 nights. Palermo x 5N will be great for day trips! Catania for 2N will also be good. We plan to visit the WWII Museum that we missed the last time. Enjoy your planning!

Thank much for your reply, Janis. I checked the hotels you mentioned. They look lovely, but a bit high priced for me.

The best way to get hotel recommendations that will be useful to you is to provide a nightly budget in euros.

Agree with acraven. We have 8 or 9 other properties booked throughout Sicily that are somewhat less. We booked all our accommodations directly. I did check Booking.com for reviews & pricing first. I chose our accommodations based on recommendations from friends and Forum friends as well. Hope this helps.

Acravan and Janis,

Yes, a nightly budget - good idea. Up to $50. Less is best.

Thanks much.
