Lodging near Venice airport

We are departing from Venice airport returning to the US in mid-Sept and have a morning departure. Any recommendations for lodging near the airport for one night. We will be arriving in Venice by train. We need to be at the airport by 8:00. Thank you.

A family member of ours stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott and said it worked well for their early departure from the Venice airport.

Venice airport is not served by train, so that will not work for them.

The above recommendation for the Marriott airport hotel is a good one. Or they could stay in Venice itself, and spend up to an hour getting to the airport by Alilaguna or vaporetto plus bus.

Venice Resort is where I have stayed. Nice rooms and breakfast with shuttle service to the airport.
The bus from Mestre station (No 15) stops at Triestina-Tessera, 300 yards away. Should be only 1.50 EUR provided you don't go all the way to the airport, otherwise it is 8 EUR to the Airport. Or you could spring for a taxi.

Miss Lola, one of two links I listed on my post is a 4 star hotel less then 3 miles away from Venice airport along the same road as the Marriott. That will work for them as well.

Because Venice is absolutely magical at night, I would stay in the historic center and get up a little early rather than staying on the mainland. The Rick Steves Venice book gives you the details on how to do that. I would recommend staying somewhat near the Alilaguna stops along Fondamente Nova in Cannaregio.

Yes, we stayed in magical Venice every night except the last, which was at the Titian near the airport for a 7 a.m. flight. Took a bus from Venice to the hotel the late afternoon before, shuttle from hotel to airport.

I too would stay in Venice. Better to spend your last night in a beautiful city, not an anonymous airport hotel.

The ATVO bus starts running earlier than you'd need and takes about 20 minutes from Piazelle Roma. Stay near it or the train station so you can get there quickly, and buy tickets the day ahead. Catch the 5AM bus, and be to the airport by 5:30. Yes, you'd need to get up super early - but let's say you stayed at the airport with a 10 minute shuttle. You'd leave at 5:20, and not have a walk to the shuttle, so you'd save MAYBE 30-40 minutes of sleep. To me that small amount of savings is not worth "wasting" the last night of my trip - I consider airport hotels a waste because they are boring and don't let you enjoy the city you came to see in the evening.

EDIT- wait, you have to be AT the airport at 8, not a flight at 8? Then obviously stay in town! Get on the bus at 7 or a little later, so you get up after 6AM. There’s no reason to head to the airport a night before if it’s an 8 AM arrival.

My apologies Rjean. I thought from your suggestion of "Padua or the Veneto" within an hour's travel time to the airport, that your links would both reflect that. I did not open them.
