I am contemplating a very quick stay in Rome on my way to Sicily. I will be traveling with a 13 and 10 year old. A hotel/B&B/hostel that is walking distance from Rome Central Station would be ideal. Any suggestions? Safe and good AC are my only requirements.
I have been to Rome twice before and know it warrants more than a fly by but this is just about transportation logistics and breaking up a long train ride.

No personal recommendations, but I did look up Hotels near Termini Station listed in the RS guidebook for you. Here are a few of them.
Hotel Nardizzi Americana is listed as having aircon and family rooms. Email for reservations and get RS discount.
Hotel Italia Roma Air con and family rooms.

Hotel Sonya is our normal hotel in Rome -- maybe six times -- it is about three, four blocks away across from the opera house. For our one night stands we have used Hotel Contila - one street south out the side door of Termini. Decent hotel, so - so breakfast.
Hotel Aberdeen meets your location requirement. We stayed there on our RS Tour. My husband and I were given a room with 3 single beds.
I've also stayed in both Hotel Sonya and Hotel Aberdeen and would recommend both. They are within reasonable walking distance from Roma Termini. Have a look at the RS Italy guidebook for other choices.
