My wife and I will be traveling with two other couples and are looking for an easily accessible hotel/B&B near the Central Train station in Milan.
Will will arrive Milan Airport (MXP) mid morning on the 6th of September and would like to go directly to our lodging choice to drop luggage. We are looking for three rooms (three couples ... husband wife) with queen beds or two twins at the very least. We will check-out and depart Milan on September 7th via train. We will return to Milan via train late on the 9th of September and would like to stay at the same lodging location as we did on the 6th. We will again depart Milan via train early morning on the 10th of September.
Interested in cleanliness primarily and moderately priced.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We stayed at the Hotel Berna, as recommended by someone on this Forum. We arrived by plane, took the bus to Central Station, and then walked to the hotel. The hotel had the best breakfasts which were included in the nightly rate. The refrigerator in the room had complimentary drinks of our choice (hotel sent out survey request). Not sure if rates are “modestly priced,”but the amenities made it worthwhile.
That first evening, we went into the bar for pre-dinner drinks, the first of many Aperol Spritzes for the trip. The bartender set the standard high. All future Aperols were compared the one I had there. The complimentary appetizers were so filling that the 4 of us skipped dinner that evening.
Metro station was also close by.
Define "moderately priced" in terms of Euro and remember you are in a large city in Italy. Also we have used Hotel Berna and liked it.
The Garda nearby is a little less. But the Berna is nice if it is "off season" and not too expensive.
Another Hotel Berna fan here. I had a lovely room and the breakfast is amazing. You can't go wrong there. I booked directly with them. Follow the link for their website.
We had a nice stay at Hotel Madison. Wouldn't hesitate to book that one again.
Another vote for Hotel Berna. Wonderful staff and great breakfast.
rod,
For hotels near Milano Centrale, my suggestion would either be Hotel Garda or Hotel Berna (as mentioned by the others). Both are within about a five minute walk from the station (I know, as I've timed it).
You didn't provide any criteria for "moderately priced", so you'll have to check their websites for the details.
Thanks for the many suggestions for lodging in Milan near the Central Train Station. It looks like Hotel Berna or Hotel Garda are both good choices.
Since I received great advice for Milan, would anyone have a lodging suggestion for Rome? ... preferably near the Vatican ... walking distance or short cab ride.
Again, there will be three couples ... my wife and I and two other couples.
We will arrive Rome on September 27th and depart on September 30th.
Thanks for all of the responses and suggestions ... much appreciated.
