Lodging in Verona

I am looking for reasonable priced lodging in Verona, does anyone have recommendations? -I have not been getting much response to inquiries from the listings in Ricks book.

When are you going, and where have you already tried? If you do not get a response to an inquiry, that generally means they are booked on your date.

As for reasonable prices, they are hard to find during opera season. We found prices varied night by night, depending on whether it was opera night. On those nights, it could double. Other places just raise their prices thru the whole opera season.

You might check first to see if there is a performance on the night or nights you will be there.

We are renting an apartment for 2 nights in late September. We have not been there yet, but it looks like a nice place. It is costing us 80 euros per night. Prices probably vary depending on when you are going. If you would like more information you can PM me.

We used VRBO to find an apartment for 5 days in mid July this summer, a block from the Piazza Erbe. We used it to find a place there last summer, too.

I stayed at Hotel Piccolo for 3 nights...clean, comfortable, good rates, less than 10 min walk from train station. Would stay there again if I ever go back....

I stayed at Hotel Milano in February. They were in the middle of renovating, I was in one of the new rooms. Very modern - someone had to come up and show me how to turn the lights on and off (too old for all the new tech stuff, sigh), very comfy bed, though the room was pretty small. Best buffet breakfast I had in Italy. Great location, just behind the Arena (about 50 meters) and a short walk to Piazza delle Erbe. The staff were all very friendly and super helpful.

We also enjoyed our stay at Hotel Torcolo--it's an excellent location for exploring Verona!

You probably need to know places not to stay also. We stayed at Villa Francescetti hostel. The people running the place were nice but I wouldn't recommend it. It's run down.

My wife's biggest complaint: her shower was just a trickle of water running down the wall. She also had her blanket taken by an Italian woman (we stayed in seperate dorms), who used it as a curtain for her own bed.

I'm very not picky and would probably stay there again but it wouldn't be high on any list.
