Lodging in Venice in October

What are your thoughts on lodging for 3 nights in Venice?

Joe, hasn't our weather in MN the last couple days been great. I have stayed at Al Ponte Mocenigo and it is very highly rated on Trip Advisor. This June I am staying at Pensionne Guerrato and their reviews here on the helpline are very positive also. Both are recommended by Rick in his books. Venice is expensive-how many are in your party?

Will it be your first time in Venice? If so, definitely consider Pensione Guerrato. They are the best, especially for first time visitors. Great location and they'll make you feel right at home. We've stayed there twice.

Joe, you're making it easy for us. You didn't even ask for hotels in Venice with lap pools (we know about those, you know)

Hi Joe--we are practically neighbors! We also enjoyed our stay at Pensione Guerrato and it is in a great location. Our family of 4 stayed here in 2005 in a huge room on the top floor with a great bathroom. I don't know how many people are in your group or what your budget is but it is also fun to rent apartments in Venice and this can sometimes be cheaper than a hotel. We have done this several times now and love it! Hotel Campiello (in R.S. bk) has several very nice apartments to rent also in a great location and easy to find. Depending on how many people are in your group the above-mentioned Pensione Guerrato also has a new 2 bedrooom/2 bathroom apartment with kitchen and living rm and a/c called apt. Carampane, located about 5 minutes walk from their pensione. Almost rented this last summer for our group of 5 people/6 nights/230 Euros per night/220 Euros if pay with cash, but went with an apt. at Hotel Campiello instead. Another place I almost rented an apt. through was www.truly-venice.com They were very prompt in answering my e-mails and questions and have some very nice apts. and pictures are online. Buon Viaggio!

Hi Joe,
Another Minnesotan here!

We just got back. Venice was our last stop. Casa Rezzonico! Super quiet in the Dorsoduro neighborhood. 3 min to Accademia, 15 to San Marco or Realto. We loved being away from the crowds! They have 7 spotless rooms, a more than adequate breakfast, and the hosts are fabulous. Great garden in the back. Our room was very large.

We paid 135E per night. I would imagine you could negotiate with them, but we felt that was more than fair. We will only stay with them if we return.

Laura,

It was a bit of a hike from the train station. We took the Vaporetto down the Grand Canal when we first got there with luggage, but we hiked it to the bus station (right next to the train station) on the way out of town

Casa Rezzonico is just up a small, quiet, canal from Campo San Barbara. Also, just across a bridge is Campo Santa Margherita with lots of cichetti bars and some amazing pastries!
