We will be in Venice Oct.6-8. Either it is a very popular time or an event must be taking place since we are having no luck in finding a room. We looked at all of the suggestions posted by others regarding and tried many of those recommended. HELP!

You're right. I don't know what's going on that weekend but the usual sites didn't show many options. There are a few on Eurocheapo.com.
You didn't say what your budget is.

We had a similar problem this past May. We only needed one night until the new Hilton Molino Stuky opened on June 1 and most wanted a 2-3 night commitment. We found a room at the Hotel Messner. They may put you in their annex which is a 1-star rated building about 200 feet down a back canal. Very quiet, very small but very clean. We paid 110E for the night. try www.accorshotels.com and stay in Mestre if you are still haveing difficulty finding lodging.. if you stay at Novotel hotel they will shuttle you to Venice, they have a pool and huge buffet brfast incl and parking. Or seek cheaper stays in Mestre if you need to. but do not miss Venice it is wonderful.

If you can find a place in Mestre close to the train station I would suggest that.There are trains to Venice every5-10 minutes.

You might try www.domusorsoni.com it is a wonderful B&B in the Cannaregio not far from all the things you might want to see and the staff is very helpful.
