looking for Recommendations for Siena. Not too far out of town (no car). Around $150.00 a night (tops). 2 teenage girls. Very interested in B&B's or Guest houses.
Cheri,
You did not say when but we stayed at Albergo Bernini and it was great. That's in Rick's book.
We were in Tuscany in April and stayed at the Agriturismo Marciano. Absolutely fantastic - read some Trip Advisor reviews of it!! Their breakfast was the best we had in Italy, we had views of olive groves and grape vines outside our window, the owners were so sweet (we were greeted w/ glasses of the Agriturismo's wine when we arrived). It was kid-friendly too. Also, they offer a dinner (just need to request it) that was one of the best of our trip. So great!
@ Lauren - I'm happy to see your good review for Agriturismo Marciano. We will be staying there in September and we are so looking forward to it.
You might try Alma Domus. It is owned by a religious order and run by nuns. We stayed there and really enjoyed it. It is more like staying in a college dorm than a hotel, but it has a great location and very reasonably priced. One of the drawbacks is they only have twin beds, but for 2 teen age girls, that would probably be preferable. Ask for a room "con vista" (with view). It is 75 euros a night for 2 (which is $90 a night with the current exchange rate...room for the exchange rate to go up and still stay well with in your budget) Here is their web site:
http://www.hotelalmadomus.it/inglese/paginaprincipale.php
Cut and paste it into your browser. (still cannot figure out how to link) Enjoy your trip.
Plesee note: They do have a 1 AM curfew. Wasn't a problem for us, but keep it mind when deciding.
PS I was just looking through their pictures on their site and noticed that some rooms now have double or queen beds. Ask for twin if you want 2 beds.
Cheri, we stayed 2 nights with our early 20's kids at the Palazzo Masi and loved it. We had 2 Doubles with a shared bathroom...(It was nice that the third room on that floor was unoccupied so we could easily plan our shower times!)
The location was fantastic since it's just off Il Campo, the breakfast was fantastic (8E per person additional) and Daniela and Alessandro are the sweetest and most caring!
Stayed at Albergo Bernini and really enjoyed it. My room had a beautiful view of the duomo. Their breakfast is very good but an extra 7.50 euro per person, so be sure to consider that. Alma Domus is in same vicinity and lists quad rooms for 110 euro including breakfast, but not sure how their quad rooms are set up (maybe 4 twins).
We stayed at Hotel Cannon d'Oro, very near the Campo. 60-105 euros/night.
I may have misunderstood. Is this a trip for 2 girls still in their teens, or is this a family with 2 teen age girls that need a quad?
A family of 4. Two of which are teens
Three reasons to stay at Albergo Bernini:
- It has a fantastic view of the city on the terrace. Breakfast is so-so.
- It's right on top of one of the greatest restaurants in Italy, Il Compaccio.
- They have a really cool dog, black lab I think.
Enjoy!!
