We have two days on the Amalfi coast and thinking of staying in Salerno. Any recommendations on lodging. 4 adults-children 21 and 16 , my wife and myself. We also would like to go to Pompeii. We are travelling to Rome after would it make more sense to hit Pompeii on the way to Rome? Sorry for the long post.

You might want to consider staying in Vietri which is very close to Salerno instead. Valle delle Najadi in Vietri is very nice with beach access. Two days for the Amalfi Coast is really not enough. Allow at least a half a day to visit Pompeii.
