Any recommendations for lodgings in Pompeii for one night? I plan to take the train down from Rome about 4 or 5 in the afternoon, stay over and spend the next day exploring, then leave for Rome about 7 in the evening. This will be at the end of October. Also, what's the easiest way to get from Pompeii to Herculaneum? Thanks.

I would highly recommend Sorrento. Quick train ride, lots of lodgings, restaurants and views

In Pompeii We stayed at Hotel Amleto and were very happy with the hotel and location. It was convenient, comfortable and much closer to the ruins than Sorrento.

Totally agree with Karen and Tim to stay in Sorrento. My favorite place in Italy and very convenient to Pompeii. I think you'll be much happier there.

The same train that goes from Sorrento to Pompeii will take you to Herculaneum - the stop is the Ercolano Scarvi and then an block or so walk to the ruins.
