Anyone spent time in Piacenza? My family and I will be there our first night in Italy (flying into Milan). We're taking a train to & from Piacenza, and would prefer to be centrally located. I've noticed a number of recommended hotels on the outskirts of town, but these are kind of far from center and appear to be big, business-meeting hotels.

Just checking again - anyone out there stayed in Piacenza before? We want to spend a short time there, as my father in law's ancestors are from the area. Not recent enough to be anybody we could stay with, unfortunately.

I just googled "Piacenza pensione" and the name Pensione Serena came up. The reviews are in Italian but Google will translate for you. Seems OK.

Thank you Norma. While checking out the place you found, I came across some others and booked a place near downtown. Hopefully it works out well, then again it's only 1 night. Thanks again -
