Lodging in Orvieto, Italy

I received a recommendation to stay at the Palazzo Piccolomini. I have visited their website and e-mailed them several times but they have not responded. Any suggestions?

Generally when there is no response they are full. we stayed at a convent in RS guidebk . It was terrific and low in cost. Skip breakfast there, parking is close by.

Jim, we will be staying in Orvieto from October 24-26th and wil be staying with Valentina who has a few rooms she rents out. Rick has it in his book and she was quick in response. It's 57 Euros per night. Her email address is: valentina.z@tiscalinet.it.

While it's only a few rooms, you never know, there may have been a cancellation. If you want to see what the rooms like like, let me know and I can send you the pictures she sent.

Jim,

You might also check Hotel Corso in Orvieto. It's an easy walk from the Funicular station, and very comfortable.

Happy travels!

I stayed at the Hotel Corso and it is a great location..... right on the main street. I found it very convenient to walk everywhere. Don't forget to walk around the wall/path that circles Orvieto - that is a great walk.

Magnolia Inn (see RS) is great. The location is perfect (between the Piccolomni and Duomo) and the owner Serena is wonderful. Cost 65 euros with frescoed ceilings, beautiful floors, foyer and the best shower on our trip! You can sit in her brothers' small cafe downstairs and sip wine as you watch the promenade. We had a back room which seemed nicer. Her apartment next store is great for extended stays and families with a balcony and living room.

We stayed at Casa Flavia in May this year; it's an apartment in the centre of town, and it's spectacular!!
Clean, colourful, very well-equipped.
Also, the owner picked us up in her little car at the top of the funicular.
We were 3 friends, and I believe we paid E90 per night between us.
I think it would sleep five in total.
See my review on TripAdvisor.

I'll second B and B Valentina. It was delightful. Clean comfy rooms and great location. You can walk from the funicular or hop on a bus that will drop you off nearby. DO stop in the TI office next to the funicular and pick up the free map of town.
