We are planning a trip for spring 2027 and want to stay in Ortigia for three nights. Any recommendations for a place to stay that is not too expensive. Thanks.
We stayed at Hotel Gutkowski. It was fairly reasonably priced, we had a huge room, and there was a nice breakfast.
Last year I stayed at I Santi Coronati B&B. Well located not far from the piazza with the Fountain of Diana, moderately priced, breakfast at a nearby café.
I have stayed there three times over the last 5 years, and have booked through Booking.com each time. Short of recommending a place (everyone's preferences vary), I will just say that a private apartment type place or a B&B offers many more options than a traditional hotel.
I've been very happy with VRBO in Ortigia. The 4 places I've stayed have always looked exactly as pictured and earned their excellent reviews. Sorry, my favorite is no longer listed. I suggest looking on the island, not the mainland even though the separation is only a couple minute walk on a bridge.
We stayed at Hotel Gargallo. Very spacious room, breakfast was included. Close to public transit, and many restaurants and a grocery store within a few blocks.
I'll just make a general comment... Ortigia is a peninsula that is essentially pedestrian, so consider the distance from the parking lot; especially if you plan on having luggage or doing any day trips where you have to walk to get picked up or get your car. The flip side is the further south you go, the closer you are to the evocative tip; kids splashing in the water and sunset strolls along the promenade.
Has anyone ever stayed at or know about Maison Ortigia? One I am considering.
