Hi, we will be in Sicily in September. From the 22nd thru 26th, we want to stay in or near Taormina. There will be 4 of us and we prefer authentic lodging or a hotel/albergo that is not too large. We want a view of the sea, but don't want to stay in a beach-oriented hotel as we will be exploring the food and wine of the area. A great 2 bedroom apartment would work also. Any suggestions from this group?
There are so many small hotels in Taormina! In fact, most hotels in town are on the smaller side. Where you stay depends on your budget. Taormina has become exorbitantly expensive, so keep that in mind. "The view" in Taormina is considered the view of Etna. You could begin with Villa Schuler.
Where will you be exploring the food and wine--in Taormina itself, on day trips, (??)
We stayed at Hotel Bel Soggiorno. From it it was about a 10 minutes walk to the main town. It does have free parking if you have a car. It had a nice breakfast and great views. It is an older hotel but we really liked it. One photo is from the outdoor breakfast seating area while the other is the view to Mt. Etna.
