Can anyone recommend an excellent, safe, and convenient place to stay in Naples near the train station?

You may need to stay farther away from the train station to fulfill your requirements.

We are going to be staying at Stelle the Businest which is almost in the station. Granted, we haven't stayed there yet and the neighborhood isn't supposed to be the best, but it is newer and looks nice from pictures. It is also rated well on tripadvisor.

We’re staying one night at UNA Hotel after returning the rental car to NAP. The hotel is about 1/4 mi from Napoli Centrale. We have a 8:30am train to Venice. Can’t say if it’s good or bad but it looked better and is rated better than some of the others near the train station.

I'm staying at the Hotel San Pietro in May, which is within walking distance of the train station. It's received good reviews on Trip Advisor. Some reviewers have commented that it's not in an ideal spot in Naples, but most of them have enjoyed their stay there. You might want to check it out.

I stayed at b&b Sweet Sleep which was recommended by our friend, sweet Zoe. The area didn’t look great when we first got there but it was fine. It was near Garibaldi Square. The rooms were adequate and comfortable, the breakfast was wonderful with many, many casseroles, sweets, egg dishes, breads, meats....wonderful...and outside on a terrace. It was around 70 euros a night.
