Lodging in Cannaregio

3 of us stayed in an apartment in the Jewish Ghetto in Cannaregio. Found the apartment through Cross-Pollinate. We enjoyed our 3 night stay. Very convenient. We walked from the train station easily.

Can also recommend Trattoria Bar Pontini for reasonably priced seafood right on the canal near the apartment. Near the trattoria is Hotel Filu. Gets good reviews and is reasonably priced.

We've stayed several times at Hotel Abazzia near the central train station, located on a quiet calle (alley). The property is a former Carmelite Monastery and provide clean and very comfortable amenities. The staff is first rate, helpful, and very professional. The rooms were very clean and accommodating.

I second cross pollinate. Rented a beautiful apartment from them in Canneregio.

At the beginning of the month I stayed in a 2 bedroom apt. (One bedroom has bunk beds) overlooking a canal across from the Jewish Ghetto. It was listed on HomeAway as Venedig. It was definitely living like a local which was what we wanted. It was a 10 minute walk from the train station. I will say that the locals were not friendly and I was glad I learned some basic Italian especially concerning directions. There are few street signs and GPS does not work there. They either would not or could not speak English. That said I was glad I stayed there.

We stayed here in April and it was a wonderful experience. Quiet Canarregio neighborhood on a quaint street between two canals, close to local restaurants. I would stay there again if I could. The host was very helpful and even met us at the train station and helped us to the apt. 2 large bedrooms/old world charm, etc. Within walking distance of train station.
