Can anyone recommend a good hotel, B&B, etc. in Calabria? We've never been and are planning to take our 89 yr. old aunt as part of a trip that will include rome, venice and florence. All suggestions greatly appreciated!
Last year we stayed in Tropea, Calabria at Residenza il Barone (www.residenzailbarone.it) and it was wonderful! The owners are a lovely young couple who could not have done more to make our stay more pleasant. Calabria is a very beautiful part of Italy and very non touristy! Mostly Italian tourists, but you will need a bit of Italian language knowledge as very little English is spoken in the region.
Thanks so much, Barb. I'll check it out.
We stayed at the "Villa Antica" http://www.villaanticatropea.it last Nov. - wonderfully friendly...and the BEST breakfast we've had at a B&B (just kept coming and coming!!)I'm very picky about my bed :-( and I was underwhelmed by that (typical, European budget accommodation mattress), but that would be my only complaint.
Thanks! will chek it out.
