I am trying to plan a night in Cinque Terre for my husband and I this coming May. I would like to stay in Vernanzza. Does anyone have a recommendation for a place? We are not needing a fancy place, but would like a private bath. Please advise on where and the best way to make a reservation.
Thanks!
We love Toninno Basso's place... no view and at the top of the town, but has AC and an elevator and the rooms are spotless with a computer for your use.The restaurant Il Pirata is just downstairs and that's the place for breakfast and dinner.By the way, we are from Lebanon, not too far away.
Hello, just want to point your attention to this site about the Cinque Terre. It contains helpful information such as touristic guide, hiking maps and descriptions, pictures and video. Hotel and B&B accommodations and booking on line.

give maria capellini rooms a try, good luck :):)
We loved Camere Giuliano. He is rec by RS and you can get feedback from Trip Advisor. He has a beautiful, clean place with gorgous views. He is quite a character and we enjoyed our time spent talking with him. We also ate at the restaurant he works at and he would come and sit with us when he wasn't running around. It was one of our favorite places to stay on our whole trip!
Dont overlook Riomaggiore!!! We stayed with Edi's Rooms in a modest place that had a terrace overlooking the sea and harbor. It was wonderful. Riomaggiore is beautiful and a bit more quiet than Vernazza, especially in the evening. When we visited Vernazza in September of 2006 it was busy. A very active night life.
I agree about Riomaggiore. We stayed there in October 2007 and loved it. We stayed at "I Limoni." Alessandro and Christina were wonderful and our place had a wonderful view from the deck, as well as a kitchen. Riomaggiore was a nice respite after the busier town of Vernazza.
Hi Acacia,
There are many wonderful private rooms in Vernazza, so I don't pretend to have the "winner," but we were very pleased renting a room from Ivo Basso. He runs a pizza place on the main drag and rents out two rooms with private bathrooms. I don't think he's even listed in Rick's book, so we were a little skeptical, but he was great! Since he's not in Rick, he had availability when other places we contacted were full. The room and bathroom were cute and clean, overlooked the main street (no noise at night), and were reasonably priced -- 70 euros for a one-night stay last May. Lots of stairs to walk up, but that's true of anywhere in Vernazza. Reservations were via email (we confirmed again by email a couple of days before arrival), and we picked up the keys and dropped off the cash at the pizza place.
His website gives an accurate idea of the rooms:

Have a wonderful time!
Here is my choice...www.elisabettacarro.it
Rooftop terrace with 360 degree view of mountains, vineyards, town, castle, and the sea right below you. 60-70 euro for 2 people...ask for either 2 rooms on top floor only for the rooftop terrace (in Vernazza). Loved it there!
We stayed in Monterrosso, which was by far the nicest town,I thought. Our hotel was called La Spaggia, and was wonderful, but possibly more pricey than you are looking for 160 Euros a night, but worth every penny.
I am also looking for May reservations in Cinque Terre. I am planning on being in CT on 16-18th of May and cannot find any place that has open reservations with reasonable rates (Less than 120 euros a night). I will stay in anything from hostel to hotel to private room etc. The Lemon Festival is this weekend and I am wondering if that has anything to do with my troubles....I am not gutsy enough to go without a reservation. I have started looking in La Spezia and Levanto since I am running out of options even though these towns are not technically CT. sigh Hopefully some more people can give us websites to work with...
I, too, am looking for a place to stay in May. I have two pending - one in Riomaggiore and one in Vernazza. I am having a very difficult time trying to decide whether to stay in one or the other. Riomaggiore sounds good to me from Rick's description in his bood, but then he says he chooses Vernazza. The one in Vernazza is 15 Euros more but looks to have bigger terrace sea views. Neither rooms are too expensive - either 65 or 80 Euros. That's okay for me for sea views. We are both late 50's, love to hike, not "old" but are not partiers - can anyone help with our decisionmaking. Thank you.
- Acacia try this website for several suggestions - http://www.cinqueterre.com/eng/itineraries/008.php
Take the room with the best view or the best terrace. You cant go wrong with either town.
