Location of ATMS in Venice, Florence & Rome

Hi everyone,

Is there a website that lists locations of ATMs in Italy? I am going on an RS tour in October of Venice, Florence & Rome (counting the days till I get there!!) I've tried searching here on the travelers' helpline but didnt find a link.

Grazie!

Hazel, as Doug says, they are everywhere. You'd spend more time looking for a specific address, if you had one, then simply stopping at the first you see. Enjoy....

Actually Tim....that's not the case. The locators will show the ATMs on a map so you don't have to go searching for an address....a valuable tool if you're on a tour with limited time to move around on your own.

Sorry Norm. In a strange town where you don't know where you're at? We found Bancomat's on every street corner in Venice, Florence & Rome. Why look for a specific address when in the course of a routine walk you'll see 2-3 an hour?

We were in Florence, Venice and Siena and found a bancomat everyday. I found them easy to find while we were walking and we walked a lot.

ATMs are easy to find. Since you're taking a RS tour I wouldn't worry as I'm sure your guide will know of ATMs near your hotels.

Hazel - as noted you will find ATM's everywhere! Check with your bank in San Francisco and see if they have any "partner" banks in Italy and you will not have to pay any "service charges."

My bank in the States does not have partners here (but does in many other EU countries???) so any withdrawal i make costs me about $5 in US bank charges. That might be one advantage of knowing where specific ATM's are - but only if they're convenient. I would not go in search of a specific bank unless you're in the area! Have fun!

Ciao,
Ron

As I said, Tim...if you're on a tour and you don't have time to look, it would be a good idea to locate a few nearby the places you do plan to stop. Makes sense that people should be able to locate the ones close to the Vatican, for example. But, as I also noted, if that's not necessary, then they don't need to take the time to plot them out. If you don't know where you are, Tim, how do you know where you're going? ;)

You'll spend far more time right now trying to figure out where the bancomats are than it will actually take you once you're there to either ask your RS guide (who will definitely know) or to just ask someone on the street "Bancomat?" and they'll point you there. Spend your advance time adding value to your trip, not collecting useless information. (I don't mean that to sound as harsh as it sounds. It's just that there are many things that make sense to plan out in advance and this isn't one of them.) IMHO, of course.

And, yes, they are everywhere. But they're called "bancomats" in Italy, not ATMs.

And BTW, you're going to have a great time!!
