I will be in Rome in March and am trying to find a location for a birthday dinner that will include about 30 people. I have mainly gone to more cozy establishments on my previous trips to Rome so am not sure where could accommodate a large group. It doesn't need to be anything fancy- pizza/pasta are fine, but we do have a couple people who are gluten intolerant, so it would need a couple gluten free options. Many of us will be staying near the Campo di Fiori, but anywhere in the central part of Rome- from the Vatican to the Spanish Steps to the Coliseum would be fine. I would be so appreciative of any recommendations. Thank you!
We used to go to Antica Taverna all the time when we lived in Rome. They had some private group dinners where people took over the entire restaurant. Simple Roman food, nice service, cute place , and just west of Piazza Navona. http://www.anticatavernamangiabene.it/ You might email them. The owner, Paolo, and many of his staff speak English.
Ristorante Terme di Diocleziano, www.termedidiocleziano.it, near Roma Termini, is not a particularly highbrow place but accommodates groups well, with a variety of rooms and a roof terrace that you might be able to reserve, subject to availability. They serve traditional Roman dishes but the dessert list is minimal. Talk to them about what you want.
