Can anyone recommend a good local guide in Venice for a walking tour?
Michael at Venicescapes ( www.venicescapes.org ).
We will never forget our food and wine walking tour with Alessandro (https://www.schezzini.it/). He knows and loves his city well, and he's a ton of fun.
Thank you both!
Not a private guide, but we had two good tours in Venice through Viator tours.
One was a walking tour for about an hour, with a 30 minute gondola ride after the walk.
It was so relaxing to be in the boat on a very hot day.
The guide was a very personable fellow and very knowledgeable about his city.
The other, also through Viator, was a boat trip up the Brenta Canal from Venice to Padua, to see all the Palladian villas en route.
Cyn, which Venicescapes tours have you taken?
We did both of Alessandro's tours a few years ago, and Stan wants to do them again when we're there next year. Or at least the wine and food (cicchetti) tour.
