My husband & I - age early 60s - will be in Siena in early October for 3 nights staying at The Garden Hotel. Anybody know a good tour guide we could hire for 1 or 2 days of wine country touring ... either alone or with a small group?
the Italy guidebook has some info.
I believe you can find several people and companies that provide this service in Siena. For example Tuscan Wine Tours, Franco Fadda, Luca of Hills & Roads, etc. Here's a web-site with a list of companies that provide the service you are looking for: http://www.wine-tours.it

We stayed in Tuscany for a few days in April 2005. We had Antonio, with Country Tours, take us around (privately) for a fully day wine tour. It was one of the best days we ever had! Here is their website:
They are very friendly, knowledgeable and fascinating to talk to. Antonio is an excellent host and we were treated so wonderfully by him. We stayed at the Hotel Piccolo Oliveta, in Siena, which I believe he owns. I'm not sure if he is still there, but that's where our tour started.
Franco Fadda Wine Tours is customized and exceptional.
Do a search for Franco Fadda and you will find his web site.
Roberto Bechi is based in Siena and he's one of Rick's guides he uses on his TV shows. Also had the pleasure of having Roberto tour our Village Italy tour group in July in an Etruscan museam nearby in Chianti. You can find him at tourbyroberto.com. He was fantastic for us.
