We are planning a trip to Italy next Spring (2017) and would like to see both Matera and Alberobello. I'm leery of driving in Southern Italy and was thinking of basing ourselves in Bari for a few days. Any suggestions for a local guide for both Matera and Alberobello? I found some guides by doing a google search, but don't really know how to check them out. Also, am I wrong regarding driving in Southern Italy? We are comfortable driving in France, but I've read that Southern Italy is quite challenging. Thanks for any advice!
