local driving zones???

I know a lot of towns in Italy have local only zones that you can get a fine if you enter. We will have someone who is disabled with us. Is it possible to get permission to enter those zones if we contact each town and give them our information ahead of time?

Yes. It is possible. But each municipality has its own separate procedure, therefore it’s not a one stop shop for all places you go.
Most municipalities have that info available in their website. Whether it’s available in English in all websites I don’t know.

There is often parking just outside the ztls, not necessarily very far. It may not be as big of an issue as you fear. You might take a peek at some map websites in advance to look at the best possible parking locations.

Where do you want to go? What kind of disability? If they are wheelchair bound, there are places that are not at all wheelchair friendly. Your trip will take careful planning.

Is there a website that lists all the zones in Italy? Like a list of all the towns that have such zones?

All cities, towns and villages have one or more ZTL zones. The 0.1% that has no ZTL, has no historic center either and no tourist would visit them.

Learn the ZTL sign or you will be fined.

Yes, there is a website that reports all info and maps regarding the ZTL in each city (see link at bottom).
However for obtaining a disabled person permit you need to contact each jurisdiction separately. A disabled person placard is not enough, because photocameras don’t see those. Authorities must put your car license plate number in the white list. That is the only way for a fine not to be automatically issued.
You can still use the website below to find out about disabled access in each city.
