Has anyone done this? I found the website ~ Corsica/Sardinia Ferries.
Taking the train to Livorno and not sure how one gets to dock where ferry leaves from.
Also, on ferry, if you are just on foot and do not book a room I am assuming there are seats available?

There are seats.
You can take a bus (1 or 1R) from the station to Piazza Grande, then walk 200 mts. to the dock.
