I have tried to google this information; however, I am not getting a direct answer. Can you buy liquor/wine/ beer in grocery stores in Italy. I was also wondering if depended on the region. Thanks

Yes. I’ve seen it available in grocery stores everywhere I’ve been in Italy.

Yes you can, throughout Italy and that applies to pretty much most of Europe.

Yep, and not only that, you can legally walk around and drink in Italy. I was on a food tour and there was left over wine in the bottle and our guide was like, bring it! We can drink it on the street, no rules in Italy!

Pretty sure only Scandinavian countries have any restrictions on sale, and I would yet have to hear about one with rules on consumption (local temporary bans for football matches excluded) other than „feel free to drink as you like“

Yes, you can buy any alcohol in every supermarket in Italy. And let me say: wine is much cheaper here than everywhere else and also the cheaper wines are tasting soo good.

Italians buy liquor (including beer, wine, and hard liquor) at grocery stores. There are some specialty wine shops, but the liquor store concept prevalent in America is rather absent in Italy.

Edit: in Florence you can also buy wine in the "buchette del vino" (wine holes)

While in Italy you will immediately have a feeling you are not in Utah anymore. Tell Toto.

Do be a little bit careful about purchasing and walking around drinking it in Rome. While "open container" really has no context, you can not be intoxicated, and there are some restrictions. After 10PM in the Trastevere, do not carry alcohol around, and really at no time can you sit on the Spanish Steps or near any of the fountains and have a glass (or even eat your sandwich). Church steps are another place that will get you some scorn.

Not exactly. In several cities there are restrictions in drinking on the street, to avoid too many drunk people and trash left. Maybe you can't bring glass bottles and glasses, or drink at all outside bars/restaurants/pubs, or cannot seat and drink in some places/staircases....

In fact the selling of alcoholics is a license (not the same for food or other stuffs), but the most of groceries have it.
In Italy you have no restrictions in purchasing alcoholics if you are an adult. Not allowed free selling for minors.
