Do the major outdoor monuments have lights on at night to photograph? We're visiting Rome, Pisa (hopefully Cinque Terre if weather permits), Florence, Bologna and Venice. Thanks for any insight.
Generally speaking, yes they do. The hard part is getting all those other darn tourists to clear out of the frame so you can get a clean shot :-)
They all are lit.
Just do a Google Image search using the key words (MONUMENT NAME) + AT NIGHT, or in Italian DI NOTTE, and you can see.
Yes, lighted for the most part though some are done w/o photos in mind and pose technical problems like glare. For Cinque Terre, look at the photo galleries on each village which include some at night on this article

Thanks for all the valuable feedback! Much appreciated!
Late at night the Forum is lit in a magical, ghostly way. For me it's a powerful, emotional, reminder of the 2773 (I think the number is right) year Roman history. From there I like to walk to the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Another powerful historical reminder is St. Peter's. Yep, Rome is the Eternal City and we have a chance to wander there!
