Lido Venice

We are staying a week in Venice...if we decide we need to relax part of a day, is Lido beach area worth while? atleast decent people watching and some food and drink?

Hi Kelly,
It's been many years since I've been to Lido beach but from what I remember, it's at least worth part of a day. I would not want to spend a lot of time there but if you're looking for a place to relax and people watch it'd would be a fun thing to do. I'm not sure about transportation to get there however. Have fun!

Kelly - one of my friends stayed on Lido when she went and we are staying there too. She said the beach is nice. From my research, if you feel like sun bathing, this would be the spot to do it in all of Venice. Transportation from Venice is easy. Its a 5 min vaperetto ride from S. Marco Venice. I believe that when you get to Lido that you can walk to the beach. It doesn't seem far from the far end of the beach. There are maps of Lido online. Have fun!

My 20 y.o. daughter and I went out to the Lido for the afternoon in late June last summer. It was more than a 5 min vaporetto ride (from San Marco) but enjoyable and an easy 10-15 min stroll from the landing to the beach. Lots of people, warm Adriatic water, a fun excursion. Plenty of places for food and drink as you begin the walk to the beach and at least one higher priced shop out there for sundry items. We had a great time and I'd recommend it.

Thanks! I think It sounds like a good way to spend a few hours on a hot sunny day. I'm adding it to the list of things to do!
