We will be in Venice for several days and may want to go to the beach on Lido some afternoon. Do they have changing facilities? Refreshment stands? How long is the walk from the vaporetto stop? Is the shopping district of interest? Thanks.
I am reposting to move this question up. Thank you for your input.
Here's a previous post:
Lido
And,
Here's a post I found on the Graffiti Wall:
"In the Venice guidebook, Rick said that one should avoid Lido Beach near Venice at all costs. However, it wasn't all that bad. If you want to see the Adriatic and join many Europeans in the sun, it's really not that bad. Also, if you stop at the Brillo supermarket on the way, you can grab yourself some great ingredients for a picnic. The water was warm and it was really fun to people watch.

We went to Lido beach. I wouldn't recommend it personally.
We found the public beach was a 5 min walk from the vaporetto stop. We walked through the shopping district to get there and it seemed fairly basic...tourist shops, restaurants and such. The beach was pretty basic...not much to see.
There wasn't much to see on the rest of the island either. We ended up walking around it and it was mainly residential homes and such.
I would have preferred to spend time wandering Venice instead. From the Vaporetto on the way back, we saw parks and interesting areas that seem to be on the outer edges of Venice :)
