My license was stolen in Athens & I have a car rented in Polermo. I have a digital license from my home state in the USA, international drivers license and passport. Will it still be possible to rent a car? We have plans to tour the east side of the island and the bus & train options are minimal. Thank you. Annelle

The only definitive answer will come from your rental car company. Call them (and hope for the best).

If the car rental establishment follows the letter of the law then you are out of luck. Digital licenses are not accepted.
I once rented a car at Fiumicino just with an IDP (left my license at home), all to do with the person at the counter not following the rules. Nice of him but incorrect.

I wouldn’t count on it, but companies have different standards.
I had one company refuse my reserved rental because my hard card had expired even though it was accompanied by my paper license from the DMV. ….Thankfully a different counter agreed to rent to me
