I am staying in Levanto for 6 nights at the beginning of July. I will be with my wife and 3 children ages 3, 5, and 7. I'm curious about the beach clubs and in particular Bagni Casino since it has a pool. I was wondering if anyone had used them. Do I need to make an advanced reservation, what is the cost is etc. I think you can pay by the day or week but so far I've found little info online. Other than that any recommendations for Levanto would be highly appreciated including any tips, restaurants, day trips (we will have a car), etc. Thanks in advance. -John (oh, we are staying in an apartment without internet service so if anyone has any info on wifi availability or cellular service that would be great too.)
Hi John. Levanto is a pleasant beach / tourist town. Genuine Italy; few Americans. There is a movie theater in town; quite a few restaurants. I didn't use the pool but it seems like they would have daily admission. It's been awhile since my kids were ages 3 and 5, not sure how limiting that will be. You could take day trips by car or by train; the train gets you easily to cinque terre and many other resort towns both ways along the coast. Also there are ferry boats between towns. Enjoy your trip!
Bob, thanks. I'm sure that it will be limiting but our plan is to make this a "just enjoy being there" vacation instead of a "see everything at all cost" one. We are actually staying for 3 weeks so after our stay in Levanto we will be outside of Lucca with family and friends which will be easier with the kids. I'm sure that the first day or so will be spent recovering from the journey from California but then we hope to see some of the Riviera. I'm glad to hear that you liked Levanto. We were hoping for more Italians than Americans. Are the ferries frequent during the summer? Are there any restaurants that you recommend?
