I've been there a few times, long time ago, but never overnight. Basically Lerici is to La Spezia what Beverly Hills is to L.A. Rich Spezzini with huge boats live there. The place is pretty and frequented by ITalian tourists, didn't have a lot of foreign tourists then, but it might have changed. It's a nice place to hang out a couple of days, but not cheap. They have a nice beach, with fine sand (that I remember) also some rocky cliffs where I suggest you wear aqua shoes, because they are sharp like a razor (that I remember well also). If you go, don't drive there. They have a ZTL and it's notorious for having more cameras than in the ZTLs of Florence and Rome combined. In America rich people erect walls to prevent outsiders from entering their gated communities. In Lerici they use a ZTL with cameras everywhere. Nice place for 2 nights (one full day). If you stay longer visit Portovenere across the bay. I think they might have boats that take you across. A typical pastime of Lerici's residents is to take their yachts across to Porto Venere to have dinner or lunch there, or at least my (billionaire) college friend who lived there used to tell me. On my part, all I could do was to drive my motorcycle there. However I'm pretty sure they have hydrofoils or boats that take people across.
