When taking the Leonardo Express train from Termini Station in Rome to FCO can you use contactless payment? For example each adult use a separate card at the entrance gate or iPhone with Apple Pay? What do you have as proof that you paid?
No
You need a ticket
You can purchase on the app or at kiosk
You will show your QR code on the ticket
If you have kids, take a look at the million terrible reviews on TripAdvisor from people not buying the right tickets for their pre-teen kids and getting fined on the spot. I'm not certain but I think above age 11 are considered adults on the L.E.
Caveat emptor.
How many people are you? It may be cheaper and easier to take a taxi, depending on how you're getting to Termini. If you're taking a train in and will be there anyway, then do the L.E. Buy your tickets on the Trenitalia app and you don't have to worry about validation.
