Left over euro? Suggestions to dispose of?
How many? Keep for your next trip! That is what I am doing. Or give to a friend who is traveling soon?
- Save for next trip
- Give or sell to friend or acquaintance planning a trip to Europe.
- Exchange at a bank or currency exchange bureau.
- Donate to a charity.
Keep your eye out and someone you know will be going. You can sell it to them.
My friend bought my extra Euros last year, and I ended up losing 4% when I had to replace it last month.
We always have 200 euro in reserve for next trip. If you sell back to your bank you will take at least a 10% beating on the exchange rate. Contact a local travel club.
Send it to me?
I agree with Nigel - LOL
Save it for your next trip. I have 65 Euro left over from Italy to start my Germany trip. I also have pounds from a trip to Britain. If it’s a lot you can sell it to your bank but call first not every branch has foreign exchange services.
Hey hey
@nigel
HA HA
aloha
Left over Euros are just a reason to go on another trip. We always have pounds and euros on hand. One never knows when a good deal will come along.
I bought mine Pre-trip from my German neighbor. And sold the leftovers to a neighbor who’s headed to Ireland.
Ask around. Someone you know will want them.
If you plan to return to Europe, keep it. If you don't plan to return, sell it to a friend or acquaintance at the spot rate per the OandA website. Or buy some overpriced gifts at the duty free shop at the departure airport. Last resort, sell it at an exchange booth either before departure or upon arrival, but expect a really bad exchange rate.
If you don't want to save them for a future trip, and you don't know anyone going on a trip, see if you live near a Rick Steves Travel Group meeting. If so, you can arrange to sell them to someone there.
Here's the board where these meetings are posted: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/travel-meetings
We always save at least 100€ for our next trip. I keep them in an envelope with our passports. Or use them up paying part of what you owe for your last hotel.
On my flight home from my last trip, the flight attendants were collecting money for UNICEF, which could be in any currency. So, I gave them some Euros and kept some for a future trip.
The exchange rate is so great right now. Save it for your next trip. With this great exchange rate we have brought home at least €500 the past few years to save for the next trip......because when you have euros, you NEED to go back to Europe to spend them, right? 😊
A euro (or peso) stashed is a trip promised .....
At our house, my husband actually has a place where he keeps leftover currency-except our daughter refused to give him her leftover pounds because she's "saving them for my next trip".
Better EU than Moroccan Durham!
Whenever I travel I always use the last of my cash to pay my final hotel bill. I reserve enough for taxi to the airport, make sure there are not any airport fees or taxes enroute and use the rest of it to settle the hotel bill. The balance of my bill goes on my card.
Anything left I keep at home....the cost of exchange usually is not worth the effort. If you have a large amount of cash (why?) you can go to a bank in the US and exchange it.
Does anyone want some Lira, marks, francs etc? The euro has made holding European cash a much simpler problem than it once was.
