I have seen a number of bad reviews about the Roma Termini kiPoint left luggage facility. Mostly regarding how long it takes to get your luggage back. Has anyone used them or other facilities outside the station?
I have not; that is a super busy train station with all kinds of stuff going on. Trying to store luggage while transiting through Rome has to be an unrealistic plan when it comes to good service expectations not unless you can leave it at a hotel when you arrive too early or you are checkin out.
A few years ago I was in Rome and wanted to check my bags for a few hours before my afternoon train. It was a Sunday morning in late April. When I saw how LOOOOOOONG the line was to retrieve luggage, I changed my mind. I didn't want to risk missing my train. I ended up hauling my bags with me to the nearby church for mass. There will be absolutely no way for you to know in advance how long it could take to get your bags back.
There is an express option which reduces time both for storing and picking up luggage. I have found it to be efficient and worth the extra cost.
So we were there today and left our luggage at hotel agora. Right across the street from termini. Follow signs to the Via Marsala exit. Zero wait and only 5 euros per bag.
Hah, there are many things I love about Termini but leaving luggage there looks like inviting disaster...
Unfortunately it is a big busy station with lots of travelers. Depending on time of day, month, year, the line could be a problem. You didn't indicate when you will be there. But it is really you only option.
Good for you for finding another option!
