I'm looking for one myself. Basically we would want a local driver with local knowledge that, for a price, will take us where we want to go that is not on the train or bus line. We'd like to visit Manduria and probably over to Alberobello as well. Also if he/she has ideas of local towns off the beaten path that would be interesting. We're basing in Lecce. Trip is March 2027, so I have time to look.

We will be on a cruise and only have a day in Lecce. I will take the train from the port in Brindisi. Half hour easy train ride. I have drove all around Italy and Europe and going to the small places around Lecce will be pretty easy driving. Did you ever consider self drive? You can rent cars by the day easy and cheap. Only thing is they are manual transmission only. You do not drive in the small towns just park and walk. A car gives you access to the smaller remote places. And opportunity for different experiences.

Not to hijack the thread, but we've been to Italy 4 times and have not driven yet. I am a big fan of European trains and choose to plan our trips around the train routes, and have filled in with local guides/drivers. It's worked well so far!

Totally agree, i used to live in Greece and drove everywhere in Europe many times. Those days are over, as parking is too stressful. Driving in the rural areas is okay, but parking is always a big stress. You pay Euro 25 a night for a tiny spot, only Houdini could get out of once you squeeze into the spot.
