leaving tomorrow night...bag weight question...

Hello,
Leaving for our trip tomorrow night! My bag weighs 19lbs. Should I try to leave a shirt or two home?
Thanks.

Are you worried about being too heavy for your airline to take it as a carry-on? What airlines are you flying?

Or is there another reason?

As I recall you are flying Lufthansa. They seem to limit carry on to 8 kilos, 17.6 lbs. If they weigh and a lot of gate agents will, you'll be over. Can you pull something and carry it on your person until you get past the point where they check and then replace it in you bag?

Hello,
I am flying on Air Iberia. The limit is 22lbs for the carry on (I hope to bring my bag carry on). I have heard stories of having to check even if you are within the size/weight limits.

Ooh. I never thought of that Ron. I could take out a jacket i have in the bag and carry it, and then replace it once i get to the gate. Great idea!

Iberia Airlines (not Air Iberia) has the following limitations:

Weight-22 pounds

Dimensions: 21.6 inches x 15.7 inches x 7.87 inches

If you have a non-rolling, soft sided bag, then you should be okay.

If you have a rolling bag, you may have a problem with the dimensions.

It's all going to depend on how strict the Iberia gate people want to be.

Okay, so I ALWAYS pack too much. Be merciless and get rid of what you won't wear at least two times. Aside from the weight, you will just be glad you packed more lightly. I finally got it down this past summer - three weeks in Greece, Italy, Austria and a day in Munich: three pants, one long sleeve top, three nice t shirt-y tops, a bathing suit, a lightweight sweater jacket and some accessories, plus jammies and other necessities. Buy some new necklaces and scarves while you are there to change things up.
