ronnie, Yes, absolutely! You'll be paying for the Uffizi tour, but if you don't mind missing it, that's your call. Just let the Guide know in lots of time, so that he/she doesn't buy Uffizi admission tickets for you. You might also ask the Guide if there's a group dinner that night, as that may have a bearing on what time you return from Pisa (provided you want to attend the dinner - they're usually excellent!). The Itineraries on the RS tours are not "written in stone". I've always found them to be very flexible. I'm not sure Pisa is worth the effort, but if it's important to you, go for it! Happy travels!

We took the same RS tour in 2011, and we made the train trip to Pisa and back in one free afternoon. The train trip was about an hour each way, and seeing the Field of Miracles sites (including walking to the top of the Tower) only took a few hours, so we were back in Florence before dinner time. My point really is that you may not have to miss out on the Uffizi tour in order to go to Pisa. Don't forget to validate your train ticket before boarding though. Our conductor looked like he was going to blow a gasket before moving on to some other miscreants. I now know better.

I don't want to ruffle any feathers......but I'm tired of the PISA bashers. We all have our own personal thoughts, and I respect that....but Pisa is worth seeing. I also have a personal grudge against the book "One thousand places to see before you die", when I didn't see the Tower of Pisa, it lost its credibility to.....me. Amen

I have a great memory of the tower as it was the one place that my grandson wanted to visit in Italy... so we went, and he sat there and sketched the tower and later made a painting of it...Memory...priceless, and he absolutely loved it.
@Jim... I agree...all those who bash it went themselves.
