Leaving on Tuesday

Going to Italy on Tuesday. My thanks to Rick and his Italy 2010 guidebook, his podcasts and this website. Also, the responses to my questions posted here. Feeling overwhelmed and maybe even with all of the preparation, a bit underprepared. Too much country and culture and too little time, I'm afraid. Will do my best.

Enjoy. You probably will find that you are not underprepared. It's only natural to feel overwhelmed right before a trip. Once you're there, you will begin to relax. Pinch yourself and believe you are in Italy!

I feel your pain. We leave in three weeks and Im still second guessing myself on what to take, etc. I look at it this way, once you get there, get a good bottle of wine and forget you lack of preparation, feelings of being overwhelmed, etc. Well thats my plan anyway. Enjoy, I know you will.

Phil and Tom! You'll both do great! I recommend reviewing Rick's packing checklist (on the "Travel Tips" section of this website.) I'd pack a week or so early and then you can think about what you've got, remove items you won't use, add items you decide you need. Always keeping in mind that you'll be happier if you pack light!! The only essentials are your Passport and medications. Taking a guidebook and your itinerary info are important too. Most other things you can get once you arrive if absolutely necessary! Ahh - as Tom suggested, the wine will help too! Enjoy!!

Thanks Sharon. I feel more in control today! Just a carry-on and my vest from Scottie's. Light is right!

With Ricks books you will be surprised how much you are prepared. We are going back for the third time and we could have never done it without the help of his guide books and advise. Nary a hitch and we were there for two months in 2010 traveling all over Italy. We would have never attempted it the second time for two months if it were not for the experience we had the first time we ever traveled to Italy in 2007. Things could not have worked out better. Have a wonderful time and drink the local wine frequently.
