Leaving luggage in Siena?

Hello All,
My hubby and I are only able to spend a day in Siena on this trip to Italy (no this cannot be changed). We are coming from Monterosso and are planning to take a train. Where can we saftely leave our luggage (we each will have a larger backpacking pack that will need to be stowed)? We do not want to carry it all day or have to worry about being denied access to places due to our bags. I think we are planning to just take the escalators from the train station into town (as per the RS guide book). There seems to be a lot of varying/contradicting info about this, so if someone has a concrete idea (that has been proven recently, ideally) that would be great! I LOVE specifics, so if you have a lot of details, the more the merrier (less time wondering around getting frustrated). Thanks for your help!

Did you see this section, from p. 591 of RS Italy 2017? The last few words are going in the 2018 edition, so it can't be that long since a researcher was there.

Day-trippers can store baggage in the Sottopassaggio la Lizza passageway underneath Piazza Gramsci at the Tiemme/Siena Mobilità office (daily 7:00-19:00, carry-on-sized luggage no more than 33 pounds, no overnight storage; bus tickets and WC available).
