leaving Italy from Malpensa

The night before I come to Milan for an early morning flight, I will be in Varzo, in the Alps.

My question:

Can someone help me with a one night's accommodation either in Milan or near the airport.

I have been reading the reviews from Venere and so many of the places sound awful.

My flight leaves at 9:15 am. on the 26th so I need a place that I will be able to get to easily when I leave Varzo and also be able to get to the airport on time.

My brain has turned to mush........Thanks much for any suggestions

A night in Stresa on Lago di Maggiore...with an easy shuttle bus connection to Malpensa, under an hour, could be much more relaxing and fun than a night near Malpensa.

That's a good idea, though I am staying in Varenna earlier.

My problem is I have to decide how I am going to spend my last day or so in Italy.

I would like to go back to Varzo/ Domodossola and get some history on my grandmother. Someone there already did a beautiful paternal line for my family. I would like something similar for my grmother' side.

If I stay almost a full day in Varzo, visiting and getting information, I won't have time to appreciate anyplace else and I thought a quick run to Malpensa in the evening would be best.

If I don't need to go to Varzo - if someone has already done this research for me again, I might stay in Domodossola or Stressa or somewhere where I could appreciate my location.

I just need to decide what I want to do and I guess I may have to wait until I get there the end of May to see if I need to come back. A pleasant stay in a quiet little town, all to myself would be a good way to end my vacation.

At least I have reservations near Malpensa which I can cancel if I want.

But, thanks much for the suggestion.

We have stayed at Hotel Cervo Malpensa several times. It is very close to the airport and have a free shuttle service. Clean, comfortable, internet, reasonably priced for an airport hotel. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

We have booked a room at the Hotel Villa Malpensa for late May. It looks lovely, supposed to have a nice restaurant, also a shuttle bus, close to the 2 terminals at the airport. Slightly mmore expensive than some others mentioned here. They have a nice website, but I can't find it to post here....

I saw that one but didn't like the reviews it got on Trip Advisor.

NanC - I'm assuming you meant the Cervo, not the Villa Malpensa.

OK! The Cervo was the one getting the worst reviews, but apparently the Villa Malpensa has its critics, too.

I think you have a lot of options. Please come back, though, and let us know what you did.

I think I won't know until the day comes just how I am going to handle how to get to the airport and where I will be staying the night before.

I have several options. I will let you all know how this turns out. I still can't believe I am doing this - all by myself...

a presto

Well, not really all by myself, I have had LOTS of help from this forum and I do appreciate it.

Can't wait until next time. I have learned so much here !!!
